The Chaos on Wheels Team has spent the past decade traveling the United States working with youth leaders and event promoters to bring the message of Jesus Christ to people of all ages and culture groups. Chaos on Wheels has proven to be a true pioneer in “action sports” ministry. When we first began performing stunt demonstrations there were very few people who even knew of the sport, let alone using it for ministry. Over the past decade the BMX/freestyle and skateboard scenes have gone mainstream.
Today many communities have a ramp park with an extreme sports association. The Skate Park Association of the USA (SPA USA) states “According to the International Association of Skateboard Companies (IASC) there are over 300 public skate parks under construction through out the United Sates. Three years ago we had a list of over two hundred US Skate Parks. Parks are being built so fast that we are having a difficult time tracking them. We have quite a few large private parks and many churches throughout the nation are adding skate parks to their ministry.” Much of this growth can be accredited to the growing television coverage of these activities. Whatever the reason for the growth, it is happening and Chaos on Wheels is very excited to be part of the positive impact. Along with the growth of these sports the world has seen the birth of many “action sports” based ministries. So, why choose Chaos on Wheels for your event?
Chaos on Wheels began offering shows with a ministry focus in 1997 after God demonstrated to Jeremiah the influence they had on audiences. As a son of child evangelist “Cowboy” Ray Anderson, Jeremiah spent many summers on the road sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Today, God has taken those experiences and his love of BMX and developed it into a very effective ministry that shares the Gospel in a way that today’s youth can relate to.
With a core team of 6 riders, led by Mat Anderson, the Chaos on Wheels team is able to offer a show with diverse riding styles. From basic flatland tricks to 360 variations and back flips, the show is captivating to all ages. With the extreme sports being so popular, Chaos on Wheels is able to draw un-churched audiences who are searching for the extreme. During the show, Mat or Jeremiah will share how entering into a relationship with Jesus is the only way to find the ultimate thrill.
Chaos on Wheels offers a flexible show format that can work with any ministry event. A Chaos on Wheels show is not a “demo.” It is an action filled performance set to music that ends with a message that will change lives. With a portable ramp set up and their own sound system, events can be held indoors or out. Catering to a variety of audiences, we offer messages including the Gospel presentation, using your gifts for God’s glory, making good decisions and of course bicycle safety. Over the past decade Chaos on Wheels developed relationships with ministries like The Freedom Experience and Vertical Ministries, Livin’ It and The Palau Association, the Billy Graham Association and most recently Bridge Ministries in Joplin, MO.
Not only do Jeremiah and Mat oversee and develop the ministry of Chaos on Wheels they are both also very active in the day to day ministry happening at Autumn Ramp Park, the Bridge and the Foundry in Joplin, MO. It is this “on the ground” ministry experience that separates Chaos on Wheels from the many other “action sports” teams out there. We have learned over the past decade that “real ministry” doesn’t happen by us preaching from a stage and jumping from one city to the next. Lives are not changed until someone invests time and energy into the lives of today’s youth and then poses the question “will you follow me as I follow Christ?” This is how we feel Christ ministered as He was here on earth and that is why we have based Chaos in Joplin, MO to work alongside Bridge Ministries and change lives one at a time.
