Josh Boatright

How did you begin biking? When I was 13 my dad bought me “trick” bike, and I started doing wheelies and stuff, next thing I know its been 8 years and I still ride a little bike.

Style: I guess I’m more of a trick guy, but my style can be a little scary to watch g

Favorite spots: Dave Mirra’s wharehouse, Ryan Guettler’s backyard ramp, and the Kinston compound(top secret)

Favorite trick: Right now my favorite trick is flip whips. the last half of that trick, when it comes together, feels so awesome! My all time favorite trick is tailwhips, but kids just wear them out now days.

Hardest trick:

Bike related injuries: Ahh, injuries, I tore both ACL’s in my knees, separated my shoulder to the third degree, broke a rib, separated my big toe and one of my fingers, separated the joint in my wrist, and of course all the sprains and cuts.

Greatest accomplishment: sacrificing my life so God can use me

Biggest riding influence: Ryan Guettler: He is one of the best in the world, riding with him everyday has been a huge blessing. He always pushes me to be all I can be, and he helps me with anything I need. Another huge influence is mike laird, he has really been there for me since I was a young kid learning the ropes of being a professional bike rider. The main thing I like about mike is he always gives 100%, and that’s how I want to ride.

Motto: “one life”

How did you come to know Jesus Christ? When I was about ten or eleven I realized I was a sinner, I had done bad things. I knew from being raised in church that sinners have to go to hell. However I had also learned that Jesus Christ died for my sins and that He and He alone had the power to save me from hell and take me to heaven. So I asked Jesus to save me and I know He did!

How does Jesus work in your life? It has been about twelve years since Jesus saved me and He still works in my life everyday. I just pray that I let Him work more

How did God call you to do what you do? When I was younger, just starting to ride bikes, all I wanted was to ride and be pro. But one day I realized that God wanted to use me. He wanted me to tell others how he saved me and how He can save others. Bike riding has become a tool I use to meet others and then tell them the great miracle of Jesus Christ. So many times I have gotten caught up in the world and in sin, and that has distracted me from my purpose. But God is always there to help me get back on track.

What Chaos on Wheels has done for me: Chaos on Wheels has given me the opportunity to travel and meet people that I never would have come in contact with otherwise. The team has helped me to grow as a Christian, and I hope I have helped others along the way.

Thanks: I want to thank Jesus for saving me and for always being there even when I fail Him. I want to thank my wonderful wife for loving me and for supporting me and for not giving up on me, in bmx or in life. Kristen you are truly my best friend! I want to thank all my friends and family, especially Ryan Guettler, he has givin me opportunities I never could have imagined.

Plans for the future: My plans for the future would be to get my knees fixed, they hurt a lot! Once I quit riding I would love to settle down as a pastor or youth pastor, but I’ll leave it up to God to decide. If at some point I could become a professional angler (bass fisherman) that would be amazing.

Other interests: My dog Scooby, he is without a doubt the coolest, best dog in the world. If you ever see me ask me about him I have plenty of pictures and stories. And here recently I think I might like bass fishing more than bmx! It is so fun just trying to learn all I can and catch the biggest fish out there. Seriously I might have a problem…
